With a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Derek is also a certified Holistic Health Coach, as a Sleep Specialist. His coaching journey has demonstrated that sleep is not just about closing our eyes but how we live our daily lives, how well we prioritize our self-care and detach from our stressors.

Sleep problems usually begin with a poor environment. If a parent is practicing poor sleep hygiene, the children are either likely practicing it themselves or learning these behaviors on some level. Derek believes insomnia is mostly avoidable and reversible but there are not enough resources for trying other approaches before defaulting to medicine. Sleep, on an emotional level, is ultimately about relationships with oneself and others through behavior request and expression.
